"Riding turns 'I wish' into 'I can'." ~ Pam Brown
The Peace Meal Project was proud to present a mane event to benefit Equussential Education, a Unified Equestrian Program.
The directors, riding instructor and students of Equussential Education shared a video and interactive presentation with us. We learned and saw how strong the human/horse connection is and how effective therapeutic riding can be.
A silent auction was made possible by many local donors and included a vast array of amazing products and services. Guests purchased art work, jewelry, health and beauty products, chiropractic services, errand services, skateboarding lessons and much more. All proceeds of the auction benefited Equussential Education.

Equussential Education
A non-profit organization, Equussential Education was started in 2011 to make available to the community an integrated program of natural horsemanship and therapeutic riding opportunities. It is a Unified Equestrian Program that connects the essential elements of Body, Mind and Emotion to facilitate the exploration of Individual Awareness, Growth and Healing through the Human / Horse Connection.
Traditional therapeutic riding lessons are offered for individuals with cognitive, physical, developmental and learning disabilities. PATH International certified instructor, Deidre Johnston works one-on-one with each students to customize lessons and achieve their individual goals. The focus of therapeutic riding is to promote physical, cognitive, emotional and social well-being.
The Unified-4 program combines earth-centerd traditions, natural horsemanship, body awareness and meditation to create a unified experience on and with the horse. This is beneficial for ALL riders seeking growth, healing and empowerment.
Customizable horse training is available for everyday care as well as all disciplines of equestrian activities, with a special emphasis on partnership in therapeutic programs.

Guests had the opportunity to participate in an interactive obstacle course to experience how it feels to live with sensory and learning challenges and to observe the benefits of therapeutic riding.
Together we created and shared a delicious potluck buffet dinner.
Interaction withing an equine partnership, through it's very nature, becomes a therapeutic practice. Riders of all abilities - both abled and disabled - can benefit from the unique and powerful results of participating in the human + horse connection.
Sensory awareness and integration explored on horseback helps to achieve balance in daily life. Using movements, textures and sounds, riders will stimulate individual sensory experiences in order to reach a more integrated response to daily challenges.
Through equine assisted learning, students work with the horse and trainer to develop and enhance essential healthy life skills, including non-verbal communication, confidence, leadership, creative thinking and problem solving.
